Background

My name is Rashon C. Smith, and my life has been shaped as much by responsibility and love as it has by professional ambition. Long before job titles or leadership roles, I learned what it meant to protect someone, to stand in the gap, and to be steady when the world demanded strength too early.

Although we were uncle and niece by name, we did not grow up that way. We grew up as brother and sister. We shared life side by side, learning, surviving, and growing together. I was her protector—not out of obligation, but out of love. That bond defined me. It taught me awareness, patience, and accountability at a young age, and those lessons carried into every part of my life. I learned how to listen before speaking, how to stay calm in moments of chaos, and how to put someone else’s well-being ahead of my own comfort.

Professionally, my career has been built on service, leadership, and human connection. I began working with GPX Greyhound, collaborating with organizations such as the Red Cross and multiple retail partners. In that role, I negotiated logistics agreements, managed inventory operations, and later stepped into a Lead position where I oversaw shipment communications and inventory accountability. That experience laid the groundwork for my ability to manage complexity while maintaining trust and clarity.

My most formative professional years were spent at Telus International, where I grew from Team Lead into Senior Team Lead over the course of nearly a decade. Leading teams in a high-performance environment taught me how to motivate individuals, build strong cultures, and exceed service expectations without sacrificing empathy. As a Senior Team Lead, I focused on developing future leaders, creating workshops and mentoring opportunities designed to strengthen both personal growth and operational excellence. I believe leadership is not about control—it is about guidance, presence, and preparation.

Today, I serve as a Team Supervisor at Gallagher Insurance, where I manage multiple teams supporting enrollment benefits and life insurance services. I lead with a balance of data-driven strategy and emotional intelligence, working closely with Quality Assurance, Human Resources, Learning Services, and Engagement teams to ensure both performance and people are prioritized. My goal is always the same: deliver results while creating an environment where individuals feel supported, respected, and capable of growth.

My education, including an Associate’s Degree, Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification, and training in coaching methodologies such as the 5 E’s, reflects my belief that learning never stops. I remain humble in every role—whether I am well-versed in a process or stepping into something new—because growth comes from staying open to different perspectives.

At my core, I am a protector. That role did not begin in a workplace, and it does not end there. It is who I am. Whether standing beside family as a brother in all but name or leading teams through challenge and change, I carry the same purpose: to guard what matters, to lift others, and to lead with strength, compassion, and integrity.
